WHAT'S UP INTERNET?

THE READING AT CHRYSTIE STREET: POETRY IS DEAD*

JK!!!

Next Thursday, July 15, two Übermensches justify the existence of poetry & the human race. Ryan Eckes & Brandon Holmquest read their really very convincing poems. Come hear their incredible poetry & make the two-hour bus ride from Philadelphia worth their collective while.

Ryan Eckes was born in Northeast Philadelphia in 1979 and now he writes poems and teaches writing at Temple University and other places. You can find some of his writing on his blog, Old News (ryaneckes.blogspot.com) and in his chapbook when i come here (Plan B Press, 2007).

Brandon Holmquest: “I write poems. Chicago and New York are two places I've lived. Philadelphia is where I live now.”

THURSDAY, JULY 15
7 M SHARP (ha ha, I know)
THE FOUR-FACED LIAR
165 West 4th Street, at 6th Avenue

“All beings so far have created something beyond themselves; and do you want to be the ebb of this great flood and even go back to the beasts rather than overcome man? What is the ape to man? A laughingstock or a painful embarrassment. And man shall be just that for the overman: a laughingstock or a painful embarrassment…”

*Molly Dorozenski assures me this isn’t so. Additionally we would like to thank her for her art direction.
